Ludwigia senegalensis (sp. guinea) - Potted
Ludwigia senegalensis (sp. guinea) - Potted Plants (Imported Plants)
Ludwigia Senegalensis is a fairly new aquatic plant in the aquarium hobby. This aquatic stem plant has a unique pattern on its leaves, making it quite a hot commodity with high rarity. Like many other Ludwigia species, Ludwigia Senegalensis has a deep red hue with a green vein and lighter colored veins running through the leaves creating a distinct pattern. Also referred to as Ludwigia Sp. Guinea, Ludwigia Senegalensis can be grown submerged or emersed. When grown emersed, Ludwigia Senegalensis has a creeping behavior versus its submerged form having a straight upright growth pattern. While most Ludwigia species are relatively easy to keep, Ludwigia Senegalensis is unfortunately not on that list and not recommended for beginners. This aquatic stem plant requires high lighting, CO2 injection and a balanced, consistent dosing schedule of a quality aquarium plant fertilizer. Care should be taken to leave ample space in between stems to allow light filtration to the bottom areas and any signs of nutrient deficiency should be corrected quickly as the plant can die off quickly.
If optimal conditions are provided, Ludwigia Senegalensis will grow at a moderate pace and can be propagated like fellow aquatic stem plants by trimming and replanting into a quality aquarium substrate. Its fickle nature aside, Ludwigia Senegalensis is a beautiful addition to any planted aquarium tank. If successful in growing it, patience will be generously rewarded.
