A beautiful line bred form of the common ricefish or medaka, the Galaxy Medaka displays a unique iridescent and almost rainbow-like coloration that can change remarkably depending on the color and angle of the aquarium lighting. Like most ricefish, they are a very hardy fish and will do well in most aquariums. The species is an egg layer but will readily breed in the aquarium under good conditions.
