A vibrant colored, and sought after pencilfish from the Rio Huallaga in Peru, the Purple Pencilfish makes a spectacular addition to a planted aquarium or blackwater style aquarium. Like most pencilfish, they can be somewhat shy and will do best in small groups of 5 or more fish. Males develop the most intense purple coloration, with dominant males in the group typically being the most brightly colored.
